May 28

Fort McAllister Memorial Day Commemoration — Fort McAllister State Historic Park, 3894 Fort McAllister Road, will host the Memorial Day Commemoration from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., during which the fort will pay tribute to patriots who served our country throughout the years with a commemoration and re-enactment. There will be cannon and musket firings, Civil War-era demonstrations and living history programs throughout the day. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children and children ages 6 and younger are free. No park pass required unless visiting the park area only. Savannah Mile — The 11th annual Savannah Mile benefiting the Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire will take place at 8 a.m. Starting line is at Forsyth Park, and finish is at Drayton and Broughton streets. Register online at www.fleetfeetsavannah.com/mile or go to the store, 3405 Waters Ave., to sign up. The Two Hundred Club provides assistance for families of first responders who die in line of duty.

Savannah Bazaar: All American Picnic — This marketplace is an inclusive event that brings together a varied cross-section of Savannah’s community. This month’s event raises money for the Ogeechee Riverkeeper. Event takes place from 3-8 p.m. at Jelinek Creative Studios, 101 N. Fahm St., Savannah. Runway in Bloom — The Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens, 2 Canebrake Road, Savannah, will host a fashion show fundraiser to benefit the new children’s garden and education. Fashion show will include pieces from local designers, including botanical designs from garden staff. VIP tickets include dinner, terrace seating, and tour of the gardens. $50 VIP, $20 general admission. Call 912-921-5460 for more information.

Richmond Hill Memorial Day Observance — The city of Richmond Hill will hold its annual Memorial Day Observance at 11 a.m. at J.F. Gregory Park, 521 Cedar St. The program will honor those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice in the armed services, police and fire departments, and other emergency services. This year’s event will feature speakers, a 21-gun salute, posting of the colors and laying of the wreath. The public is invited.
