April 21

Business After Hours hosted by Homes of Integrity — The Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce welcomes the business community to the April Business After Hours hosted by Homes of Integrity at Buckeye Plantation apartment complex, 401 Buckeye Drive, Richmond Hill. Picasso for a Night —This is a good activity for you and your best friend, spouse, family and more. Ages 13 and up are welcome to attend from 6-9 p.m. at Let’s Create, 10471 Ford Ave., Richmond Hill, next to All Things Chocolate and More. April 22

Richmond Hill Fire Department open house — Richmond Hill residents are invited to attend an open house, sponsored by the Richmond Hill Fire Department and the city of Richmond Hill. The family friendly event will feature CPR classes, blood-pressure checks, car-seat installation and safety checks, smoke-detector installations and a bouncy house. Event is part of Georgia Cities Week, an initiative of the Georgia Municipal Association, which gives cities an opportunity to share information about the services cities provide to residents. The week is also an opportunity to celebrate community achievements and recognize volunteers and city employees. Open house will be from 1-5 p.m. at the Richmond Hill Fire Department, 9964 Ford Ave.

First Christian Academy to host Open House — Come see what FCA is all about. Open house will feature bouncy castles, food and fun. Event is 3-6 p.m. at academy, which is at First Baptist Church Richmond Hill, 9184 Ford Ave. For more information, go to fcaeagles.org.

April 23

Children’s Fishing Derby — The city of Richmond Hill along with Fort Mcallister Sport Fishing Club will host a fishing derby Saturday, April 23, in J.F. Gregory Park. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. There is a limit of five fish per person; catch and release is strongly encouraged. The event will take place rain or shine. Weigh-in is from 11:00-11:30 a.m. Trophies will be presented at 11:45. During this time, a free lunch of hot dogs, chips and soda will be provided for registered participants by Fort McAllister Fishing Club. The event ends at noon. Earth Day Flower Planting hosted by YMCA of Richmond Hill — The YMCA of Richmond Hill, 154 Thunderbird Drive, will celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23rd by planting flowers at the Y and learning about fruits and veggies! This is a free family event, promising fun for the little ones.

Clara Ford 150 Gala at The Ford Plantation — The Ford Plantation will host an elegant evening gala at the Ford mansion. Guests will enjoy a party at Henry and Clara Ford’s winter estate and grounds, the likes of which haven’t been seen in Richmond Hill since the Ford era. Guests will be treated to a cocktail hour from 5-6 p.m. followed by heavy hors d’oeuvres and entertainment, including the music of he Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. Tickets are limited. Proceeds from the national Clara Ford 150 events will benefit the Richmond Hill Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Membership and donations are tax-deductible. Earth Day at Fort McAllister — Fort McAllister will celebrate Earth Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23. Learn from park rangers about how to attract local wildlife to your home garden — from butterflies to birds, and all the cute critters in between. Cost is $3 per person, plus $5 parking.

April 24

Richmond Hill Gospel Celebration hosted by the South Bryan Ministerial Association — Richmond Hill Gospel Celebration will be featuring the music of the Followers of Christ Gospel Choir, directed by Willie Scott of Savannah. This will be an opportunity for the family of God to come together in a time of joyous praise and unifying fellowship. Expenses for the gospel choir will be covered by a love offering. Extra proceeds will be donated to Family Promise of Bryan County. Call 912-756-2339 with questions. Celebration will be held at 6 p.m. at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, 12965 Highway 144.

April 26

Meet the Candidates Forum — The Government Affairs Committee of the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce and the Bryan County Republican Party will host a Meet the Candidates Forum from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at the Richmond Hill City Center. All Bryan County candidates who qualified to run in the May 24 primary election have been invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
