Bryan County Schools — Closed for St. Patrick’s Day through Friday

St. Patrick’s Day shuttles run from Richmond Hill — Pick-up will be at the vacant lot across from the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce office next to S&P Automotive (2658 Highway 17 S.). Safe and convenient ride to River Street in Savannah. Pick-ups are on the hour, drop-offs on the half hour. Cost is $15 per round trip, $20 after midnight. River Street St. Patrick’s Day Celebration — It’s the wearing, drinking, eating, and celebrating of the green on historic River Street. Scottish Heritage Days at Fort King George — Fort King George State Historic Site, 302 McIntosh Road SE, Darien, will host Scottish Heritage Days 2016 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Each day, there will be demonstrations of Colonial life and skills. Scottish Highlanders of Colonial Darien, Native Americans, blacksmithing, Colonial food, fur trading, musket- and cannon-firing will be featured. A tactical demonstration will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday. A traditional Scottish “Kirkin of the Tartans” will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday. Admission is $4.50-$7.50. McAllister’s Secret Freshwater Sloughs — Freshwater sloughs, the hidden gems of Fort McAllister State Park, dot the park’s maritime forests. There will be two hikes around the park to see these miniature ecosystems in action. Hikes are at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is $3, plus $5 per vehicle for parking.
