Bryan County Schools students and staff will be off from Monday through Jan. 1. Teachers return for a teacher work day Jan. 4, and students return for the new semester Jan. 5.

Here's a little of what is coming up in our area:

Dec. 18
Candle Lantern at Fort Pulaski —  Fort Pulaski National Monument will commemorate the 154th anniversary of the Confederate Nog Party of 1861. The long-lived Savannah tradition will continue this year with nighttime tours of the historic fort by candlelight and oil lamps, along with hot cider, cookies, music, caroling and historic weapons firings. Event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children ages 4-15; children age 3 and younger are free. Dec. 21
Bryan County Schools December holidays —  Students and staff will be off from Monday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Jan. 1. Teachers return for a teacher work day Monday, Jan. 4, and students return for the new semester Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Dec. 22
Leadership Bryan Alumni Association Luncheon — Luncheon will be held at Bubba’s Bistro, 2457 Highway 17 S., Richmond Hill, from noon to 1 p.m. To RSVP, call 912-756-3444 or e-mail Brianne Yontz at byontz@RHBCchamber.org. Event is for all graduates of the Leadership Bryan program who are members in good standing in the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce. Lunch is on your own, so if you don’t order lunch, the event is free.

Dec. 23
New Life Church to host Candlelight Christmas Service — New Life Church, 16252 Highway 144 E., Richmond Hill, will host a community-wide candlelight service from 7-8 p.m. The service will feature special musical guests and celebrate traditional Christmas music and Communion.
