Here are some of the events coming to the area:

Oct. 8
Richmond Hill Fire Department Golf Tournament — The Richmond Hill Fire Department will host a golf tournament to benefit Georgia Fire Fighters Burn Foundation on Thursday, Oct. 8. The tournament will be held starting at 10 a.m. at Sterling Links Golf Course in Richmond Hill. For more information, contact Firefighter Jordan Johnson at 706-726-4339 or Capt. Oct. 9
Tybee Island Pirate Fest — Pirates of all ages are welcome to celebrate Columbus Day weekend on Tybee Island. Daytime entertainment for Pirate Fest includes live music, pirate performers, street performers, magicians, puppeteers, weaponry demonstrations and a few surprises in between. Admission: Friday pass, $12; Saturday pass, $15; weekend pass, $22; children age 12 and younger are free. Go to for more information.

Oct. 11
Wildlife Refuge Sightseeing Cruise — Interact with members of the Oatland Island Wildlife Center and special animal friends while cruising through the refuge lands. Boarding begins at noon from the Savannah Riverboat Dock at 9 E. River St. in Savannah, and sailing is from 1-4 p.m. Advance reservations are required. Snack shop and cash bar will be available on board. Admission: adults: $35.95; children ages 5-12, $23.95; children age 4 and younger are free.
