Let’s Get Batty with Sarah — Fort McAllister State Park hosts a lesson on brown bats from 7:30-9 p.m. Friday, June 12. Learn about the park’s bat population at the park and why the park enjoy having the bats make their home there. After a brief talk, take a half-mile walk to the bat houses and watch as they emerge for a night of insect-hunting. Then, spectators will return to the visitors’ center for a campfire. Bring a flashlight or headlamp and insect repellent, and you may bring a folding chair for the campfire. Free Family Days: Juneteenth Celebration at the Jepson Center for the Arts — From 1-4 p.m. Saturday, the Jepson Center in Savannah will host its Juneteenth celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
