Life on Hill Q&A with Randy Dykes

Randy Dykes, a friend and co-worker of Richmond Hill Assistant City Manager Scott Allison, answers this week's questions:

How is Allison good for Richmond Hill?

Being a resident of the city and raising a family in the city, helps him understand the challenges that the city faces in terms of growth. Also, growing up in the Atlanta area brings with him the knowledge of what growth can do to a city, both good and bad.

Allison is a huge Bulldog fan. Will he be happy at the end of the season with their play?

Like most all of us who are Georgia Bulldog fans, the only happy ending to the season would be hoisting the National Championship trophy. Anything less and I’m sure he will be greatly disappointed.

How is family important to Allison ?

Scott has his priorities straight, family before work. He’s a proud dad and loves talking about his two wonderful kids and a you can see the excitement in his eyes when he talks about his wife.

How has he adapted to running the planning department and being assistant city manager?

I would say there are two main reasons Scott has adapted well and is able to run the planning department and be the assistant city manager. First, he is one of the most organized people I know and second, he trusts that the people he has put in place will do the best job possible and doesn’t micromanage them. He also manages his time wisely and has the patience needed to solve whatever tasks or problems come up each day.
