When things get hot in the summer, many parents bring their children to the local Baskin Robbins for a sweet scoop of the sticky stuff.
According to ice cream scooper Donna Parker, there are five best-selling flavors during summertime:
1. Butter pecan
2. Cookies ‘n cream
3. Pralines ‘n cream
4. Strawberry
5. Mint chocolate chip
“Our cappuccino blast is a (also) a big seller,” Parker said.
The flavor of the month generally sells quickly because of the large advertisements in the window, she said.
September’s flavor of the month is “quarterback crunch” for those who want to try vanilla ice cream with caramel ribbons and chocolate-covered rice crunchies.
“It’s a happy food. No one can get mad when eating
ice cream,” said Christy Hartwell, a Baskin Robbins employee.
Both Parker and Hartwell agreed that keeping the ice cream case glass free of stickiness and streaks is the biggest challenge of their job.
“Kids smear all the way down the glass,” Parker said. “It’s full face and hands (to the glass).”
Baskin Robbins is open seven days a week from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
