Parachute rigger Pfc. Joshua Willey, 21, was recognized as March’s soldier of the month for his “dedication and strong work ethic” by the Hinesville Rotary Club on Tuesday.
As an added bonus to being recognized by the Army and the local Rotary Club, Willey was applauded by 3rd ID deputy commander general-rear Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Phillips. Phillips was the club’s guest speaker last week.
Willey is with Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield. The young soldier has served in the Army for two years. He is originally from Neosho, Mo., and graduated from Sunnydale Adventist Academy in 2007.
“My dad was in the service,” Willey said. He said he wanted to serve in the military like his father did.
