Health department has flu vaccine
flu shot

The Bryan County Health Department now has flu vaccine available.
Cost for both the injectable and nasal-spray form is $28. A high-dose flu vaccine also is available for people ages 65 and older, and is designed to provide the best protection for that age group. The high-dose vaccine is $45 per dose. Cost of the flu vaccine is covered under both Medicare and Medicaid.
Getting vaccinated against the flu is recommended for everyone ages
6 months and older. The shot is approved for use in healthy people ages 6 months and older, people with chronic medical conditions and pregnant women. The nasal spray is approved for use in healthy people ages 2-49 who are not pregnant.
The flu virus is spread through coughs and sneezes and by touching something with the virus on it and then touching one’s eyes, nose or mouth. Good health habits also are important, including staying home when sick, avoiding contact with people who are sick, coughing or sneezing into one’s elbow and not a hand, washing hands often with soap and water, and avoiding touching one’s eyes, nose and mouth.
