Friends of Library to have fundraiser
Placeholder Image
School has started for almost everyone of school age. Mothers are thinking of the things that need to be done, such as cleaning out the kids’ rooms and all the closets in the house - it's the perfect time to put things aside that can be donated to the Friends of Pembroke Library.
The Friends of the library will have a book sale Sept. 17-18 at the Pembroke Library. The money made during this sale helps assist the library with items through the year it can’t use library funds to purchase.
The Friends are looking for hardback and paperback books, craft books and cookbooks, especially, as well as videos, DVDs, tapes, etc., to sale at its annual fundraiser.
While organizing those closets, any books, etc. that may no longer be needed, could be just the item someone else is searching for. Last year during the sale, a young mother was thrilled to come across a book she had read during her childhood and was able to purchase it to share with her daughter. Most books cost 50 cents or less.
In the past, the Friends have purchased special shelving, candy, prizes, books, toys and decorating items, such as throw rugs. A couple members donate time to help at the library. The Friends hope to continue its service to Pembroke’s library and thanks those who have in the past generously donated items. Thanks also to those who come and purchase books or make a generous donation of books or money.
