Winfred Mikler Tuten celebrated his 90th birthday recently with friends and family at the Richmond Hill Senior Citizens Center. A retired seaman first class in the Navy, he was presented an American flag and framed document. The document certified the flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol at the request of Rep. Jack Kingston for Tuten’s actions in World War II, where he served on the U.S. Wingfield in the European theater. He entered the Navy Feb. 15, 1943, and was honorably discharged Nov. 19, 1945.
