Waking up to new possibilities
pastor corner

The other day, I had to fly up north to conduct a funeral. On the trip home, I looked out the window to experience the beautiful rising of the sun.

It reminded me that I was experiencing the beginning of a new day. I can do nothing about what happened yesterday; I cannot turn back the clock. There are a few things I can do about the new one that I am experiencing now.

First, I can thank the Lord for making it through the night and for an ability to get out of bed. Psalm 148:24 says, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Also, I can accept the opportunity given me to make a difference this new day. Whatever gifts and talents the Lord has given me, I want to use for others’ benefit and for God’s glory.

Then I can trust that the Lord will show his faithfulness to me as he has always done, and as the Scripture states about him in Lamentations 3:23-24, "For his compassions never fail, they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

As you start your new day, what will you do with it?
