Use Jesus Christ to address the real problem

A few years ago, our church was constructed and we moved in. After the first year or so, the metal roof started leaking in a couple of spots, so we called the people who constructed it to fix it.

After inspecting the roof, they tightened up a screw here or caulked a place there, and told us the problem was fixed. Each time provided a temporary fix. This process happened over and over until, recently, the leaks became extreme, but now they have told us that the roof is no longer under warranty.

We had a roofing contractor inspect it, and we were surprised by the outcome. The roof was not constructed correctly and needed to be altered so that the water had a way to run off.

This reminded me of how individuals will realize they have spiritual issues and need a fix. They feel empty inside, and sometimes their lives are spiraling out of control. They will start going to church, stop some bad habits, or even start giving some of their resources. However, these just prove to be temporary fixes. What they need to realize is that there is a solution to meet their needs. Jesus Christ can come into a person’s life and forgive all their past sins, give them peace and transform them into new persons.

Second Corinthians 5:17 tells us “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
