Unity can be such a great thing

Psalm 133:1 says, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

There is something special about people finding out how to get along with each other. It produces joy and peace, and life in general seems to go better, whether we are talking about work associates, family or neighbors.

The problem is that most people don’t even know their neighbors. There have been surveys taken that show that the average person doesn’t even know the names of the families living next door.

Tragedy and emergencies have a way of bringing people together, like the recent hurricane that hit our area. People who don’t even know each other have been willing to help where needed. Neighbors come out and volunteer their services and end up communicating and get to know each other for the first time. Friendships are formed and they wonder why it took something like this to make it happen.

I have determined that life is short and we only have a small amount of time to make a difference in our world; we only have a short time to fulfill God’s purpose in showing love to our neighbors. We can’t let selfishness and pride rule our lives.

We can’t let childishness and unforgiveness keep us from being unified with those around us.
