The true meaning of Revelation
pastor corner

One of the most fascinating books in the Bible is Revelation. Many books have been written and movies produced in attempts to better understand the end times.
People want to know what is going to happen in the future. And it does not matter what they believe about God and the Bible in that respect. They want to know about the future.
How do I know that for sure? Well, in some newspapers, you can find your horoscope.  Every time I visit someone in the hospital downtown, I pass by the workplace of a palm reader/psychic. People want to know the future.
I remember something from fall 1987. My secretary brought me my mail for the day. One package obviously was a book so I eagerly opened it. The title of the book was, “88 Reasons Christ Will Return in 1988.”  I am not making any of this up. One year later, I opened a similar package to see the book, “89 Reasons Christ Will Return in 1989.”
Clearly, the author was confused, if not deluded. We all know that the Bible says no one knows the date or time. Jesus even admitted that while on Earth, he did not have this information. And yet, people continue today to predict, look for signs and point to this or that event to say that the day is near.
Please don’t misunderstand me. I believe that Jesus is coming again. I believe that he will keep the promise he made in John 14, “And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again…” God always keeps his promises. But as Jesus himself said, it is not for us to know the times or the seasons. It is for us to obey God’s voice.
Having said all that, I believe that I know the secret to the true meaning of the book of Revelation. I have grown more and more confident of this the longer I have studied the Bible. I don’t need full-length movies or multiple charts to guide me along the way.
I think it is much simpler than many believe. In fact, I think I will share it with you today. I don’t even mind if you share it with others.
The book of the Revelation and the key to end times can be summarized in one short sentence: God wins.
Yep. That’s it in a nutshell — God wins. And the wise individual, if he or she wishes to be on the winning side, will join the Lord in the journey. Because that is the final word. God wins!
