The Lord is good to us in many ways

If we think about it, there are many reasons we could come up with to give thanks.
One of the best ones is found in Psalms 107:1, where it simply states, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.” How is the Lord good to us? First and foremost, he provides a way through Jesus Christ to be saved. “Saved from what?” some may ask. We can be saved from the power that sin and evil has over us, a life of discontent and without peace and eternity in the place called hell, just to name a few.
God also provides things we take for granted, like the air we breathe, rain and sunshine that provide the water we drink and the food we eat. If we will trust in him, he has promised to meet all of our material needs of water, food, clothing and shelter.
One thing a lot of people don’t take advantage of is the fellowship we can have with Jesus. He really does want to be our friend and wants us to talk to him. The song writer penned it well when he wrote in the song, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.”
This Thanksgiving season, don’t forget to thank God for all his goodness to you. I’m sure you can come up with your own list of how God has been especially good to you.
