“Will you not revive us again that your people may rejoice in you?” — Psalm 85:6
It’s revival time in Fleming.
From Sunday, July 21, through Wednesday, July 24, Fleming Baptist Church will host a summer revival. Instead of bringing in a guest evangelist, Pastor Michael Carden and his ministerial staff will be the speakers for the week with the theme, “Coming Back to the Heart of Worship.”
Carden said there is a need for revival to spread across the country.
“In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Scripture says, ‘If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,’” he said. “In this verse, God promises to hear from us, forgive us of our sins and to heal our land if, and only if, the people of God would humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face and repent of their sins. We not only need this kind of revival in our country, but also in our churches.”
Carden said the revival will begin during the 11 a.m. service July 21. That morning, the Rev. Greg Wilson, the church’s music minister, will bring forth the word. Carden will preach at
7 p.m. July 21.
The revival will continue Monday night with the Rev. Joe Hanks, the church’s youth pastor. Pastor Judson Maxwell, who has served as a pastor, will deliver the sermon Tuesday night.
Carden said that on Wednesday night, the church will host a “full-fledged worship concert,” with fellowship afterward.
He also invites the community to come to the church for skating at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
“The church is heavily involved in mission outreach and evangelism. As part of our evangelistic outreach, every third Friday at 6:30 p.m., we open our gym for skating,” he said. “This is an evangelism tool we use to reach out to the community. We have a light supper, and skates are available for children or they can bring their own.”
That’s part of the regular full week of events at Fleming Baptist. The church has ministers’ and deacons’ prayer time at 9:15 a.m. Sundays, Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., morning worship at 11 a.m. and Sunday evening worship service at 6.
At 7 p.m. Wednesdays, the church has children-in-action service for first- through fifth-graders, worship and youth service for sixth- through 12th-graders.
Fleming Baptist Church is at 3526 N. Coastal Highway 17.  For more information, call Carden at 912-271-7343 or the church at 884-5759. You also may go to the church’s website at flemingbaptistchurch.org.
