Spiritual training is needed for tomorrows leaders

Parents spend thousands of dollars every year on their children’s future.

Most parents are interested in seeing their children well-prepared to go out into the world. If they are interested in sports, parents make sure they learn the games and are given every opportunity to excel. Parents want the best education for their children, helping them prepare and choose the right college for their field.

This is the way it ought to be, for our children of today will be our leaders of tomorrow. Sadly, many parents fail to give their children the greatest lesson for life: that there is a God in heaven who loves them and has made possible a way for them to live in heaven throughout eternity.

God told the Israelites that they were to teach their children about all the things he had done for them. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). God wants the children to know about all he has done for man.

Some parents get so busy worrying about, providing for and preparing children for life, they forget to do what God has asked. The result of this can be seen today in our society. Many do not believe in God; others believe there is a God, but fail to follow his way. Surely, it can be seen we must be concerned with what we are teaching our children about spiritual matters.

Children must be taught about God, that he is the creator of all things and that his word is true. Parents need take time to study and be able to talk to their children about the truth of creation that God created the world and all the things in the world; that the world is not just an accident caused by some explosion. The evolutionists start teaching their false idea of creation to children while the children still are in nursery school. Books, cartoons, movies and other such things are packed with teachings on evolution. Parents must start teaching creation early, not waiting until school age to begin.

Children need to be told of God’s great love for all mankind, including them. They need to know about his willingness to send his only begotten Son to die for them (John 3:16). They need to know he is alive and well today, and that his word will help them in life if they will use it.

Children also need to know that God is important to their parents. If they see parents not following God, not going to worship God and never putting God first in their lives, the children will most likely not follow God.

Children are a great blessing from God. They deserve the best parents can give them to help them succeed in life, but they also need spiritual training so they can succeed in eternity.
