Open my eyes to the beauty

In Psalm 119:18, David says, "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law."

The truth of the matter is that we could pray this prayer for ourselves for this same thing and we could pray that the Lord would help us to see a lot more things.

We could pray, "Open my eyes to see your beautiful creation." When I was out walking the other day, I just looked around me and noticed the beauty in nature that our God has created. I noticed the beautiful blue skies, the trees with the Spanish moss hanging from them and the marsh grass looking golden from the sunlight.

I begin to think about what the writer of "America the Beautiful" must have been inspired by as he penned the words. The older I get the more I take this beauty in and appreciate more the ability to see.

There are some who have never had this privilege of seeing and others who have lost their eyesight and can no longer see.

We could also pray for the Lord to help us see spiritual truths that he desires to show us. We sometimes sing the song "Open the Eyes to My Heart," which is this prayer put to music.

We need to see more of who God is and his plan for our lives. We need to be able to see which path we need to take and what decisions we make that will be best for our lives and bring more glory to our heavenly Father.

Today, if you are not taking the time to notice the beauty around you then take the time to enjoy, then be thankful you have the eyesight to be able to see. The good news for those who can’t see physically is that in the next world we are promised new bodies, which means new eyes.

Also, if you are not seeing what God is trying to show you spiritually then stop and ask, and then God who is faithful will reveal himself to you.
