The other day, my son and I were talking and, for some reason, the topic of dreams came up.

He used to tell me that he had a dream of working for Ferrari in Italy, and still today, he would like to live there. We discussed my dreams while I was growing up, which included being a rock star and a National Basketball Association player. My mind went back to when I was 17 and things changed, for it was then that I sensed a calling on my life to being a minister. My dream that I have never gotten away from is to be a successful pastor, which I am doing my best to fulfill.

In reality, God does have a plan for each one of us, and it should be our dream to fulfill it. We should have a passion to be all God wants us to be. The Scripture teaches us that if we make God and what he wants us to do first priority in our lives, then everything else will fall into place (Matthew 6:33). I believe the only true way to be happy and fulfilled is to find God’s purpose for us, then pursue it.

We need to remember that we are not going to live forever on this present Earth, and we only have one shot to make a difference. The way to make a big impact and leave a good legacy is to walk the path that God has called you to.

Remember that, as poet C.T. Studd wrote, “Only one life, ‘twill soon will be past; only what’s done for Christ will last.”
