Maintain the giving spirit
pastor corner

It seems like during every Christmas season the average person possesses a spirit of giving.

They want to make their family happy, so they try to get them what they want and many try to find a needy family to help or contribute to some cause others are heading up. Many people are more courteous in the parking lots or in the stores (I did say many not all). They wish others "merry Christmas" and in general treat others with respect.

But something seems to happen as soon as the season is over; the giving spirit seems to fly away.

We were in a parking lot the other day and witnessed someone being rude to someone else over a parking spot and the first thing out my said was, "I guess the Christmas spirit has left."

In 2 Corinthians 9:11, we are told that we can be enriched in every way so that we can be generous on every occasion. The result will be thanksgiving to God. In other words, God will supply our needs so we can continually possess a spirit of giving, meeting the needs of others, and the result will be that those who receive the blessing from us will praise and give thanks to our heavenly Father.

The Christmas spirit can be with us all year and we can and should be used by God to produce a smile from those we bless. So, always be on the lookout for those we can bless and ask the Lord to direct you to those truly in need all year.
