Morgan Lake was having a normal day. The sun was setting, and she was driving home on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The 22-year-old communications student slowed her car down on the bridge because of a bridge toll.
All of a sudden, everything changed.
A giant tractor truck didn't see all of the other cars slowing down and didn't stop. The truck rammed into Lake's car, pushing her toward the bridge wall. She told Fox News she prayed for her car to slow down. She prayed to not go overboard.
But there was nothing she could do.
Suddenly, her car pushed over the barrier and did exactly what she feared: Morgan and her car plummeted 40 feet, into the dark waters of the bay.
Before she knew it, she was surrounded by blackness. She felt panic, and her seatbelt was locked. Her arms were flinging around, and she felt her mouth and body fill with water.
She was drowning in her car beneath the bridge.
Morgan did the only thing she could doshe reached out for help. She said she was reaching out to God and ... He responded.
She told Fox, I just felt as if God touched my shoulder and pushed me back against my car into my seat to relax me.
She was then able to break free from her seatbelt and climb out the car window. She had just enough energy to swim to the shore, where people were waiting to help.
Her trial was literally a bridge over troubled waters. And Morgan miraculously calmed down and found a way out of her car.
