Baptist convention gets new president

The installation consecration service for Pastor Stanford L. Anderson, the new First District president of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia Inc., was April 6 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond Hill.  
As president of the First District, the second-largest of Georgia’s 12 districts, Anderson will oversee around 300 churches in 12 counties: Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Jenkins, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Screven and Tattnall.
Anderson served as First District vice president for 15 years; pastor of CMBC for eight years; pastor of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hazlehurst for 32 years. He is vice moderator of the Willacoochee Baptist Association, where he has served for 14 years.
