A tribute to Jimmy Burnsed

We read in the scripture where Jesus confronted people and asked them to become His followers and there were some who did. He exemplified what it meant to be obedient to God the Father. His disciples were to do the same as well as follow Him in His mission to bring salvation to the lost.

Later on the Apostle Paul came on the scene as the greatest missionary who ever walked this earth. He wrote in the word to the new believers and said, "Follow me as I follow Christ." What was he saying? He was saying that he was doing his best to follow Jesus’s teaching and commission and they were to follow his example.

Just this week Bryan Bank honored Jimmy Burnsed for 50 years of committed service which was well deserving. I would like to throw some honor his way which is of a different sort and that is of many years of faithful and committed service to Christ and His church.

If you ask people at random in this community who a person would be who best exemplified what a Christian should be like, I could almost guarantee that Jimmy Burnsed would be at the top of the list. I have known Jimmy for about six years and I know he is at the top of my list. I know he is not perfect as none of us are but his life and dedication stem from his love for God and his fellow man. He lives a life of humility and would not even want this article to be written about him but that is one of the greatest reasons he deserves this honor. He is one who would confess that any glory goes to His heavenly Father for coming into his life and making the difference. He is one that could easily say, "Follow me as I follow Christ."

I ask you today, are you living such a life in obedience to God that you could say the same thing to your family or friends or neighbors?
