Emergency services academy planned

The Bryan County Emergency Services has announced the inaugural Citizens Emergency Services Academy will run from 7-10 p.m. for eight consecutive Thursdays beginning Sept. 11 and concluding Oct. 30.
The academy is designed to familiarize citizens with the operation and function of the BCES. Classes will cover topics such as history and overview of the department, fire safety, protective clothing, portable fire extinguishers, fire apparatus and emergency medical equipment, auto extrication, special operations and more.
There is no charge to attend. Participants must be 18 years or older. The class is limited to 20 applicants. Applications can be downloaded at www.bryancountyga.org. Application packets also are available by calling 912-459-6505 or emailing to susanclark@bryan-county.org. The deadline for application submittal is Sept. 5.
