John Reddan, chief executive officer of Coastal Eldercare Solutions, will take part in the Renaissance Lecture Series for Magnolia Manor on the Coast. The event is slated for Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public, though an RSVP is required. A light supper is provided free of charge. To RSVP call Julie Gartside at 756-4300.

Helping people in this age group is something Reddan is used to. Not only does he run a business based on eldercare, but he also recently released a 280-page guide to hundreds of eldercare services and companies in the Coastal Empire. The book, titled Reddan’s Coastal Eldercare Directory, has more than 4,000 copies of the latest edition in circulation. The guide covers the Savannah, Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort areas.

As for Reddan’s primary business, Coastal Eldercare Solutions is a consulting practice designed to help area businesses restore productivity for their workers who are overwhelmed by the care - giving needs of their parents.

Book signing set for Pembroke Public Library
J.G. Jakes, author of “The River’s Edge,” will have a book signing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Pembroke Public Library.
When asked to sum up in one sentence what kind of story “The River’s Edge” is, Jakes said, “It’s an altogether human story: love and hatred, regret and forgiveness, faith and consequences and a cross.”
“The River’s Edge” is about an evil man, a horrible murder, a miscarriage of backwoods justice and a young woman’s vow of revenge.
Jakes was born and raised in Shellman. She now is a retired school teacher.
“It is my genuine desire to share the grace of God and encourage others as they continue on their Christian journey,” Jakes said.
