Transit fair

The first Georgia Transit Day/Transit Fair will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 8, at Georgia Southern University’s Performing Arts Center in Statesboro.
The fair is designed to educate local and state elected officials, regional stakeholders and others regarding the importance of transit within the CRC 10-county region, which includes Bryan County.  
Topics discussed will include the role of transit in the state, new transit-related legislation implementation (HB 277) and advancing mobility through transit.
The meeting will include a Live Feed Program, with discussion on the role of transit; HB 277 by Sen. Jeff Mullis; and more. There will also be open discussion on transit in Georgia and informal informational sessions.

Golf tourney

Augie’s Pub of Richmond Hill is hosting a golf tournament Sept. 11 at Sterling Links Golf Course to benefit spinal muscular atrophy.
The cost to sign up is $200 for a four-man team, and the deadline is Sept. 8. Sign-up forms are available at Augie’s Pub.

Revival
Northside Baptist Church, located at 458 W.E. Smith Rd., Pembroke, will host a revival from Sept.12-15.
Sunday services will be: 10 a.m. Sunday School, 11 a.m. Sunday Worship and 6 p.m. Evening Worship. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m.
Evangelist Max Dawson will be the guest preacher.

Christian play
The play, "The Trumpets and The Candles," a serious Christian comedy by Gwendolyn Greene, will be presented on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at Gospel Truth Bible Clinic, 362 Wade Carter Road, Ellabell. Admission is free. Everyone is invited, so don’t miss this God inspired play.

Food donations
September is Hunger Action Month. Help the one in six Americans struggling with hunger by dropping off canned goods and non-perishable donations to Palmer Chiropractic during business hours, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Palmer Chiropractic is located in Parker’s Square, 11400 Ford Ave., Richmond Hill.

Plantation tour
The Richmond Hill Historical Society is sponsoring a tour of the Ford Plantation from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 2.
Attendants will be picked up by trolley car from the Richmond Hill Museum grounds and taken to the Ford Plantation. There will be a tour conductor on the trolley to present a commentary during the tour of the grounds and historic sites.
An afternoon reception will be held at the museum following the tour.
Tickets are $30 for historical society members and $35 for non-members. There are a limited number of tickets, which are on sale through the Richmond Hill Historical Society and Museum.

Free classes
Curves of Richmond Hill is offering free weight management classes at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11,  to teach its method for losing weight and raising metabolism.
Classes will be taught by Curves’ registered dietitian Nadia Rodman and facilitated by weight management coaches from Curves of Richmond Hill, through a series of DVDs that will alternate teaching with hands-on activities.
All classes are free to members and non-members.

Fundraiser dinner

The August birth month of the Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church is sponsoring a fundraiser dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 17-18 at the church.
Dinners include barbecue ribs, baked and fried chicken, potato salad, backbone rice, green beans and cornbread. Dinners are $10 and slabs of ribs are $20.
