A public informational meeting on the landfill proposed for Black Creek is at 7 p.m. Thursday at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 55 Heape Drive, Ellabell.
Representatives from the Ogeechee Riverkeeper and Stack and Associates environmental law firm of Savannah will be on hand to answer questions.

Wine tasting
Wine on the River, a benefit for the Richmond Hill Senior Center, is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Down the Hatch at Marker 107.
The fundraiser includes wine and food tasting, a silent auction and live music. Dress is casual. The cost is $30 per person.

 Poker Run
Bryan Animal Caregivers will hold the annual See Spot Ride Poker Run on Saturday.
The starting point will be Southern Biker Gear at 4158 Hwy. 17 in Richmond Hill.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. and last bike out is at 10:30 a.m.
The Poker Run is open to all street legal bikes, and all proceeds support Bryan Animal Caregivers’ reduced cost spay/neuter programs.
The cost is $15 a hand and $5 for each additional hand.
Come out and enjoy a beautiful ride with great prizes while supporting a good cause.

Blues & BBQ
Savannah native Victor Wainwright and the WildRoots band will headline the performers for the free Blues & BBQ event from 5-11:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Hinesville.
The event will be in the parking lot behind the Coastal Courier on Main Street in Hinesville. There is no admission charge.
There will be a contest to determine the best barbecue food, and the public’s favorite will be made known by their votes in the People’s Choice Award. Crafts vendors will be on site, and children’s activities will be offered. And Sarah Cole, a blues guitarist/vocalist out of Charleston, S.C., and singer/songwriter Ben Robinson also will perform at the event.

Faith Harbor Baptist will hold its inaugural service from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at the former First National Bank at 10425 Ford Ave. in Richmond Hill.

Harvest Day
Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will have its second annual Harvest Day Celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church at 16525 Hwy. 144, Richmond Hill.
The guest speaker will be Dr. Dorsena J. Grant of Mount Carmel Methodist Church in Savannah.

Four area authors will sign copies of their books from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 8 at All Things Chocolate & More in the Publix shopping center on Hwy. 144 in Richmond Hill.
“Arcane Sunflower” author Courtney Summerlin, “Salzburg Pirate” author Jack Rodgers, “Lonely Deceptions” author D.R. Willis and “The Sculptor’s Painting” author J.G. Weaver will be on hand to sign copies of their books.
Anyone who buys a signed book will get a coupon for 15 percent off toward the purchase of treats from the store.
