Park construction: Construction will affect access to J.F. Gregory Park this week.
Through Saturday the park’s pavilion, amphitheater and all park grounds and roads will be closed to the public. Access to the City Center, John W. Stevens Wetland Education Center and jogging trail only will be available by Cedar Street.
Due to construction, the Richmond Hill Farmers Market was closed this week and will reopen Tuesday.

Club meeting
The Richmond Hill Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the John W. Stevens Wetlands Education Center in J.F. Gregory Park.
Diana Churchill, author of “Birder’s Eye View: Savannah and the Lowcountry,” will be the guest speaker.

Dolphin program
The Dolphin Project will hold a program and workshop from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Richmond Hill Historical Museum on Ford Avenue.
Learn amazing facts about local bottlenose dolphin with an informative and entertaining program embedded with video and dolphin vocalizations. A research training workshop sponsored by The Dolphin Project will follow the program. The program and workshop are appropriate for ages 10 and up. Dolphin-related books and merchandise will be available for sale, with all proceeds going to dolphin research.

Fall Festival
The PTSOs of Richmond Hill Primary and G.W. Carver Elementary schools will hold their third annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on the school campuses.
The festival will offer fun-filled activities for the kids and the young at heart with games, rides, inflatables, face painting, a dunking booth and more.
Come out and have fun while supporting these two schools.

Shoe rally
The September Birth Month group of Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will hold a shoe rally at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church in Richmond Hill.
Guest speakers include Minister Josephine Smith of Second Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Minister Cleveland Critton of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Bryan Neck Missionary’s Interim Pastor Henrietta B. Lovett and many more.
Church members and friends can show support by donating amounts equal to their shoe size or more.

Pumpkin Patch
The Richmond Hill Garden Club’s Pumpkin Patch will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 6 in J.F. Gregory Park.
Activities will include face painting, the bean-bag toss, a ring toss, a fish pond and photo opportunities with the Pumpkin Lady. Items featured will include pumpkins, mums, hay bales and corn stalks.

Harvest celebration
Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will hold its 3rd Harvest Day Celebration at 4 p.m. Oct. 7.
The speaker will be Pastor Jerome William Baker or Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah. The theme will be “You Reap What You Sow; Sow a Good Harvest.”

Homecoming
Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church will host its annual homecoming gathering with fall revival at 7:30 nightly Oct. 8-12 at 185 S. Poplar St. in Pembroke.
Homecoming Sunday services will be at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 14. An old-fashioned dinner will follow on the church grounds.

Thrift store
St. Elizabeth’s Attic and Thrift Store at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Richmond Hill has Halloween items and fall and winter clothing available.
The store, at 1649 Highway 144, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For more information, call 727-2664.

Legion meeting
American Legion Post 164 meets at 8 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the post home on Highway 280 about a half mile west of Harvey’s Grocery store. All veterans are invited to attend.
