Oct. 3
The Marine Rescue Squadron Richmond Hill 7A is sponsoring its annual golf tournament fundraiser at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Sterling Links Golf Club in Richmond Hill. Proceeds will fund volunteer rescue and recovery operations in and around the Richmond Hill waterways that aid local law enforcement and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Oct. 4
The Richmond Hill Garden Club is holding a pumpkin patch event from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at J.F. Gregory Park. Tickets for games, face-painting and food are $1 each. There also will be local vendors selling fall crafts and décor. For information, go to the club’s Facebook page.

The Pacing for Polio 5K race will start at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, from J.F. Gregory Park. Late registration is from 4-5:30 p.m. Child care will be available for $5 per family.

Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church invites the public to attend its fifth Harvest Day Celebration at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. The speaker is Elder Rosa S. Grant of Pentecostal Miracle Deliverance Center of Savannah. The theme is “The Works of a Sower.”

Oct. 9
A ribbon cutting and grand opening for Ruffled Feathers Boutique from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at  2552 Highway 17 in Richmond Hill.
Magnolia Manor on the Coast will host a pig roast to celebrate community and volunteers at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at 141 Timber Trail in Richmond Hill. RSVP to 912-756-4300.

Oct. 11
The 2014 Healthy Hinesville 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Bradwell Park in Hinesville to benefit mental-health patients at Georgia Regional Hospital. Cost is $20 before the event and $25 on race day. Students and groups of five or more are $15 per person. Pre-register online at www.cityofhinesville.org or register on the day of the event. Oct. 18

Oct. 25

Nov. 1
The second annual Veterans Salute will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Bryant Commons, 438 West Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville. The event is open to the public, with free admission and parking.

Driver’s Education
Driver’s education classes are being offered in Richmond Hill through Bryan County Community Education.  Classes are monthly. The cost is $385. For more information, call 459-5116.

Free movies in Pembroke
The Pembroke Recreation Department is showing free movies to residents on Movies in the Park night through December in DuBois Square.
Among the films on the schedule are “How to Train Your Dragon 2” sponsored by the Pembroke Police Department Auxiliary and Pembroke Fire Department on Oct. 25 and “Frozen” sponsored by Pembroke Advanced Communications.
Start times are determined by sunset, and all films are subject to change without notice. Participants should bring their own chairs and blankets. Concessions will be on sale as well. For more information call Mandy Toole at the Pembroke Rec Department.
