The Pumpkin Patch, hosted by the Richmond Hill Garden Club, will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at J. F. Gregory Park.
Items for sale include pumpkins of all sizes, giant mums, hay bales, cornstalks, holiday decorations, craft items and baked goods. There will be activities for kids such as face painting, ring toss, pick-a-pumpkin, bean-bag toss and fishing for prizes. The garden club’s Ms. Pumpkin also will be there.

Free ice cream
All during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6-12, Bryan County kids have the chance to earn free ice cream from Dairy Queen in Pembroke and Richmond Hill.
All they need to do is pick up a coloring sheet from either Dairy Queen location or from any fire station in Bryan County; color the sheet; and return it to Dairy Queen between Oct. 6-12 for free ice cream. The effort is to promote fire safety and prevention and is sponsored by Dairy Queen and Bryan County Emergency Services.

Pre-K applications
Bryan County Head Start/Pre-K in Pembroke is taking applications for the pre-K classroom for the current school year. Children must have turned 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2013.

Voter registration
The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 5 general municipal election is Oct. 7. Applications are available at the Voter Registration Office in Pembroke, the Bryan County Administrative Complex in Richmond Hill, the Richmond Hill City Hall and the Bryan County Public Libraries in Pembroke and Richmond Hill. They are also available online at www.sos.state.ga.us.

Babysitting certification
Life Moves Dance Studio will host a babysitting certification course from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 26 at 10747 Highway 144 in Richmond Hill.
The classes will be taught be a certified American Red Cross instructor and will cover CPR, choking, feeding and changing infants and more. The cost is $60. For more information, call 756-8482.

Common Threads fundraiser
Common Threads Knit, Crochet and Quilting Club will hold a “Crafts for the Holidays” fundraiser throughout the month of October, with a silent auction from Nov. 1-15.
Beginning Oct. 1, an assortment of handmade items will be on display at the Richmond Hill Public Library during business hours. Some items will also be available for special orders.
Common Threads supports with donations of handmade items more than 17 charity organizations, including Gabriel House, Lewis Cancer Center, Anderson Cancer Center, Richmond Hill Pregnancy Care Center and others.
The Richmond Hill Public Library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
