Church dinner
The August birth month of Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a fundraiser dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the church in Richmond Hill.
Dinners are $10 and include barbecue ribs, fried fish and shrimp, macaroni and cheese, red rice, green beans and corn bread. Slabs of ribs are $20.

Futch reunion

The descendants of John Morgan Futch and Nancy Crosby Futch will hold their 66th family reunion Oct. 20 at the Smith Family Reunion Center on Seed Tick Road Highway 119 north of Pembroke. A basket lunch will be served at 1 p.m. For more information, call 912-653-2474.

Veteran appreciation
Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Veterans Appreciation Celebration at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the church in Richmond Hill.
The public is invited to this free hour-of-power, compassion-in-action service honoring the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States. Veteran Deacon Florida Hunt with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Savannah will be the guest speaker. A pre-Thanksgiving dinner will be served to honor patriots. The dress is casual and the creative use of the colors red, white and blue is encouraged.

Pembroke Spooktacular
Pembroke’s annual Spooktacular is set for Oct. 26 with a day pack with spooky activities in downtown Pembroke.
The day will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 26 with the second annual Spooktacular 5K-10K run/walk. Registration is at 6:30 a.m. at Bryan County High School.
The market at DuBois Square will be in action from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as will free hay rides. Pembroke police will also be accepting unused and/or expired prescription drug drop-offs during this time in DuBois Square as part of the national Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
And the pumpkin carving contest will be at 11 a.m. with winners announced at noon. There will be no carving allowed at the park. Entries should be carved and completed when turned in.
The day will conclude with a free Spooktacular movie, “Hotel Transylvania” in the Harn Community Center.

Babysitting certification

Life Moves Dance Studio will host a babysitting certification course from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 26 at 10747 Highway 144 in Richmond Hill.
The classes will be taught be a certified American Red Cross instructor and will cover CPR, choking, feeding and changing infants and more. The cost is $60. For more information, call 756-8482.
