The Richmond Hill Public Library will close at 6 p.m. today for the Thanksgiving holiday and will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday.
The Pembroke Public Library will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving and will also reopen at 10 a.m. Monday.
Both branches are closed on Sundays.

Ministry celebration
The Hospitality Ministry of Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will host its fourth annual “Miracle of Colors Mentioned in the Bible” celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 16525 Highway 144, Richmond Hill.
There will be several guest pastors from area churches participating, as well as Bryan Neck Missionary’s own Pastor Henrietta  B. Lovett who will bless with the spiritual significance of the color red.

Health board meeting
The Bryan County Board of Health will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bryan County Health Department conference room in Pembroke.

Blood drive
First Baptist Church Richmond Hill is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 in the church fellowship hall in honor of Kayla Perry and William Webb.
An appointment is not required but can be made by logging on to redcrossblood.org and entering the sponsor code “fbcrh.”

Holiday train event
Christmas on the Train will be from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Station Exchange in Richmond Hill.
Carriage Tours of Savannah will give carriage rides. Keith & Ross will provide entertainment and Midnight Star Pottery will provide creative crafts. Santa and more than 20 vendors are expected.
The event is being presented by the Suites at Station Exchange and Georgia Living At Home.

Parade, chili registration
Registration is under way for Richmond Hill’s 12th annual Chili Cook-Off set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at J.F. Gregory Park.

Festival of Trees/Lights
The Festival of Trees and Festival of Lights will open in Pembroke with the lighting of the community tree downtown around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
Schools, churches and other organizations are invited to decorate trees for display in the Festival of Trees, open at various times Dec. 7-28, in Pembroke’s Art Center. Awards will be presented for first, second and third place, plus a “People’s Choice” for best-decorated trees.
The Festival of Lights will transform DuBois Square into a “winter wonderland” open to the public, also beginning Dec. 7.

Breakfast with Santa
Bryan County Emergency Services will host a breakfast with Santa from 9-11 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Richmond Hill Senior Center, 9930 Ford Ave.
Santa will be available for photo opportunities. There will be a craft corner, with supplies provided for children to make a holiday gift and/or write a letter to Santa.
Admission is one new, unwrapped toy per child for donation to Pay It Forward Foundation of Bryan County.

Firefighters for Tots
The Bryan County Emergency Services and Pembroke and Richmond Hill fire departments will participate in the “Firefighters for Tots” campaign.
Firefighters will collect donations of new, unwrapped toys at all area fire stations to distribute to needy local children.

Volunteers needed
Compassionate Care Hospice is in need of volunteers to join our compassionate team.  There are opportunities to assist in the office, as well as provide respite and run errands as needed for caregivers of our patients in Bryan, Chatham and Effingham counties.
