The Richmond Hill Historical Society will host a “Book, Bake & Garage Sale” from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday.
All proceeds will go to the continued restoration of the Richmond Hill Museum.
Sale items can be dropped off between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Ordination service
Minister Mary E. Mitchell, associate minister at Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church, will be ordained to reverend at 4 p.m. Sunday at 16525 Highway 144 E. in Richmond Hill.
A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall will follow the service.

School council meeting
The Lanier Primary School Council will have meetings at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 and April 28 in the school media center.
The council will discuss and seek input on the school improvement plan, the accreditation process, increasing parental involvement and other topics.
The council is made up of parents and community business members elected by LPS parents who provide feedback and input on continuous school improvement. The public is welcome to attend.

Holiday bazaar
The Craft Ladies of Richmond Hill United Methodist Church will hold a holiday bazaar and country store with tea and trifle from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. Nov. 23 at the church. Admission is $3. Children 3 and under get in free.

Club meeting

New Beginnings Community Church will hold a fall-harvest celebration from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at 75 Crosswinds Drive, at the entrance to Buckhead North.
Activities planned include hay rides, hot-dog roasting, face painting, games and prizes. All activities are free and open to the public.

Book signing set for Pembroke Public Library
J.G. Jakes, author of “The River’s Edge,” will have a book signing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Pembroke Public Library.
When asked to sum up in one sentence what kind of story “The River’s Edge” is, Jakes said, “It’s an altogether human story: love and hatred, regret and forgiveness, faith and consequences and a cross.”
“The River’s Edge” is about an evil man, a horrible murder, a miscarriage of backwoods justice and a young woman’s vow of revenge.
Jakes was born and raised in Shellman. She now is a retired school teacher.  
“It is my genuine desire to share the grace of God and encourage others as they continue on their Christian journey,” Jakes said.

Fall art show, reception planned for Nov. 8
Arts on the Coast will have its fall art show and reception at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, on the grounds surrounding Leahy Art Gallery in Richmond Hill.
