The library will close for the Thanksgiving holiday at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, and will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29.

Food pantry
The Mobile Food Pantry will be at Gospel Truth Bible Clinic, 362 Wade Carter Road, Ellabell from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
This food pantry is available for low-income, elderly, disabled or unemployed people, as well as those at risk.

BBQ fundraiser
The annual Smith Reunion Center Barbecue will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Plates will sell for $6 each and will include pork, Brunswick stew, potato salad, bread and dessert.
Please come and join us for good food and good fellowship.

Church bazaar
The Richmond Hill United Methodist Church will have its annual Barbecue, Bazaar and Silent Auction from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the church, 9050 Ford Ave. The free event will include hams, Boston butt, ribs chopped ham, potato salad, apples and more. There will also be entertainment, fellowship and a chance to do some holiday shopping at the bazaar, featuring handmade items, and a silent auction of donated items from merchants and individuals in Richmond Hill and the surrounding area.
Meal tickets and pre-orders of hams, Boston butts, whole racks of ribs, quarts of potato salad and apples are available for advanced purchase. Order forms can be found at rhumc.com and e-mailed to rhumc@coastalnow.net, faxed to 756-4610 or mailed to RHUMC at P.O. Box 1480, Richmond Hill, Ga. 31324. Order forms may also be dropped off at the church office.
Chopped ham will be available by the pound and barbecue sauce by the quart and gallon on the day of the auction.  All pre-orders must be picked up by 3 p.m. the day of the event.

DUI check
The Richmond Hill Police Department will have a DUI check point at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, on Hwy. 17 at Mulberry Drive in Richmond Hill.

Luncheons
In honor of National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, the Pembroke and Richmond Hill senior centers are hosting luncheons to discuss Alzheimer’s and caregiver safety.  
The first luncheon will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Pembroke Senior Citizens Center, and the second will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at the Richmond Hill Senior Citizens Center.
Bryan County Family Connection and others will be on hand to demonstrate Project Lifesaver, a nationally recognized search and rescue program.

Support group
Richmond Hill Asperger Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Richmond Hill Public Library.
Lita Clary, student accommodations coordinator from Savannah College of Art and Design, will be the guest speaker.

Golf tourney
Pembroke Christian Church will hold its fourth annual Robert “Red” Bowers Golf Tournament at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Black Creek Golf Course.
The cost is $300 per team of four and $100 for hole sponsors. Lunch will be served at 11:30 for participants.
