The Black Creek School Museum Committee will host a spring meeting open to the public from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bryan County Board of Education main office, 8810 Highway 280 in Black Creek.
There will be a short meeting to update the public on the committee’s accomplishments of the last year, and then guests may browse the Museum Room to view artifacts, documents and photos that are displayed of past years at Black Creek Elementary and all schools in Bryan County.

Hearings set

The city of Richmond Hill will hold two public hearings concerning variances at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at Richmond Hill City Hall, 40 Richard R. Davis Drive.  
The first request is from Doug Bean Signs Inc. to allow an LED digital changeable-copy sign to replace the existing manual changeable-copy sign on the freestanding sign for Richmond Hill Pharmacy at 2409 Highway 17.  
The second is a request from SouthCoast Medical Group on the allowable height for a project entrance sign in a C-4, interchange commercial district. The property is on Interchange Drive.  
All interested parties are invited to attend. In the aforementioned petitions, property owners within 300 feet will be notified.

Garden club

The Richmond Hill Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. May 14 at the John W. Stevens Wetlands Education Center in J.F. Gregory Park.
The speakers will be Paula Bashlor and Cynthia Turner from Savannah’s Secret Gardens. They will demonstrate how to create free-standing water features for porches, patios and yards. The public is invited.

Church yard sale

New Beginnings Community Church will have a fundraising yard sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. May 17 at 75 Crosswinds Drive (North Buckhead entrance).
Proceeds will support the church’s youth retreat. Donations toward the sale may be brought to the church through May 15. Call ahead at 912-445-0196.

Asperger support

The Richmond Hill Asperger Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. May 20 in the Richmond Hill Public Library, 9607 Ford Ave. For more information, email RHAspergerGroup@aol.com.

Onion sale

The American Legion Post of Pembroke is holding its annual Vidalia jumbo onion sale now through mid-May.  
The 10-pound bags are $8 and the 25-pound bags are $15. Delivery will be available mid- to late-May.  
The proceeds from the sale aid local veterans and the Boy Scout and Girl Scout Brownie troops that use the post for their meetings at no charge.

Memorial Day ceremonies
The American Legion Auxiliary Post 164 in Pembroke will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. May 24 in the downtown square by the railroad car.
The ceremony will include the dedication of flags honoring veterans from the Pembroke area. Jim Carroll, a Vietnam veteran, will be the keynote speaker.
The annual Richmond Hill Memorial Day ceremony will be at 11 a.m. May 26 at J.F. Gregory Park.
The event will include speakers, a color guard, a 21-gun salute and the laying of the wreath. For more information, call 912-756-3345.
