National Day of Prayer
National Day of Prayer will be recognized Thursday in both Pembroke and Richmond Hill.
In Pembroke, the North Bryan Ministerial Association will gather on the Bryan County Courthouse lawn at 11:30 a.m.
In Richmond Hill, locals will gather on the steps of Richmond Hill City Hall at noon.
The Women in White Program will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Groveland.
Minister Valarie Frasier of Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Pembroke will  be the guest minister.

The Nashville lecture
“The Story of the Nashville,” the next installment of the Richmond Hill Historical Society lecture series will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fort McAllister Museum on the 144 Spur.  
Historian Danny Brown will discuss “The Nashville” and its role during the Civil War.
The lecture is open to the general public. Parking fees will be waived.

Spring Show
Arts On The Coast Spring Show will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday-Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the AOC Gallery, 2591 Highway 17, suite 101.
The event will feature paintings, mixed media and sculpture by local artists. Artists’ reception will be 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday.
Refreshments will be served.

Thornwell fundraiser

Thornwell Home for Children will hold its fourth annual fundraising party at 7 p.m. Friday at Belle Island Clubhouse in Richmond Hill.
The evening will include dinner, dancing, auctions and raffles. Tickets are $35 per person.
Thornwell Home for Children of Clinton, S.C., has provided since 1875 a safe haven for abused, abandoned or neglected children in Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.

Cemetery clean up

Volunteers are needed to help clean up Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery during Cemetery Clean Up Day from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
The cemetery is across the street from the church at 16525 Highway 144 E. in Richmond Hill. Participants are asked to meet at the cemetery gates at 9 a.m., bring work gloves, hats and sunscreen, and wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
The church will furnish some lawn equipment and supplies, although participants can bring their own equipment.

Parent Night
Bryan County Middle School will hold Parent Night at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school. The informational event is for parents of rising sixth-graders for the 2013-14 school year.

Youth Revival
Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Youth Revival at 7 p.m. May 7-9. The theme is “Jam with Jesus,” and the minister will be the Rev. C. Diane Finely.

Installation service

Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church will hold an installation service for its new church pastor. The investiture of Pastor-Elect Henrietta B. Lovett will be at 5 p.m. May 19.
The Rev. Matthew Southall Brown, pastor emeritus at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, will be the guest speaker, and a reception in the Fellowship Hall will follow the service.
