Richmond Hill Primary School kindergarten registration is now open from 9-11 a.m. at the school for children who are 5 years old by Sept. 1.
Parents and guardians will need required items, such as immunization records, exam forms, Social Security card, birth certificate, proof of custody and proof of residency, to register their child:

Open house
Bryan County Head Start/Pre-K in Pembroke will have an open house from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Head Start center at 166 Bacontown Road.
Parents will be able to tour the school, meet teachers and staff and complete an application for the 2014-15 school year. For more information, call 653-4990.

GOP meeting
The Bryan County Republican party will have an organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Harn Community Center in Pembroke.  
A North Bryan chapter will be added to the countywide Party.  All interested are cordially invited to attend.

Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bryan County will start at 7 p.m. April 4 at J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill.
The overnight event features people taking turns walking, running or otherwise circling around a track, relay style, to raise funds to fight cancer. One of the highlights of the event is the luminaria ceremony, or candlelight vigil, held at nightfall to honor cancer survivors, caregivers and to remember those lost to cancer.  
Since 1985, Relay For Life has spread to more than 6,100 communities in the United States and has become a worldwide movement, taking place in more than 20 countries.

Spring book sale

The Spring Book and Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. April 5 at the Richmond Hill Public Library.
The book sale will be in the large conference room, while the yard sale will be in the parking lot.
A huge variety of books will be available. Prices begin at 10 cents. Most hardbacks are $1; most paperbacks are 50 cents or less.
Yard sale items are gently used and varied and priced to sell.
The Friends of the Richmond Hill Library will accept yard-sale donations up to the day before the sale. Book donations are welcomed throughout the year.
All proceeds benefit the library.

Cars and Coffee

Cars and Coffee will be held April 5 at the Richmond Hill History Museum.
This event, which will feature antique and collector cars, is free and open to the public.
Fresh gourmet coffee will be available for 25 cents with a $1 or more donation to the museum.

Plant exchange

The Richmond Hill Garden Club will host its annual Plant Exchange from 10 a.m. to noon April 12 at the J.F. Gregory Park pavilion.  
Each person attending is asked to bring as many plants as possible to swap with others or simply to give away.  Those who don’t have plants to swap are still encouraged to come, meet members and learn about the garden club, trade expert advice about plants, and take home plants new to them.  There are always extras to share.
All types of plants are welcome:  vegetable seedings, annuals, perennials, bulbs, landscape shrubs, trees and houseplants.

Free trash day

A free trash day will be held form 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 26 at Spur 144 Landfill in Richmond Hill and Millcreek Landfill in Ellabell.
Items that will be accepted at no charge are all bulk items, yard waste and up to four automobile tires per person.
Items that will not be accepted are household garbage, wet paint, chemicals, tractor and semi-truck tires, oil and boats.

Democrats to meet

The Bryan County Democrats’ monthly meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. April 27 at the Pembroke Public Library, 1018 Camellia Drive.
All local Democrats are invited to attend.

Scout fundraiser

Boy Scout Troop 527 will have its annual barbecue fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. May 3 at Richmond Hill United Methodist Church.
Meals will include half a barbecued chicken, potato salad, green beans, a roll and tea for $9. Tickets need to be purchased in advance, and Scouts will be going door to door in South Bryan neighborhoods.
The fundraiser will help send Scouts to summer camp in July at the Blue Ridge Reservation in Virginia and possibly the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
