The Children’s Village in Richmond Hill will host a bone marrow registry drive from 2-6 p.m. Monday at the school located in the Crossroad’s Center on Highway 17.
The registry drive is to benefit Evan Nelms, a Richmond Hill boy who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia last year.
To become a member of the bone marrow donor registry, donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60, meet health guidelines, complete a consent form and give a swab of cheek cells. Seventy-five percent of all donations is similar to donating blood and does not require surgery.

Barbecue sale
Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church will have its annual youth barbecue and Boston butt sale Feb. 1-2.
Plates are $7; pulled pork is $7.50 a pound; and butts are $25.

Beasley/Newman event
The “Bowling for Beasleys” fundraising event will be from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 2 at AMF Bowling Lanes in Savannah.
The cost is $10 a person for two hours of bowling and includes shoe rental. There will be raffles throughout the event as well.
The event will benefit the Beasley/Newman family who lost two young sons and their Ellabell home in a fire in November.

Tax office closed
The Bryan County Tax Commissioner’s offices in Pembroke and Richmond Hill will be closed Feb. 6 for staff training on Georgia’s new title ad valorem tax.

Rotary dinner
The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill will have its annual dinner at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Richmond Hill City Center in J.F. Gregory Park.
The Beatles tribute band “Britishmania” will highlight a Beatles-themed fundraiser. A buffet will be served at 7 p.m. with a cash bar available. Silent and live auctions will also take place throughout the evening with special Beatles-themed items and many other wonderful donations available for bids.
Tickets are $60 per person and include dinner, entertainment and dancing. Sponsorship packages are also available. Tickets can be purchase by calling Larry Barker at 756-5942, emailing larrybarker@coastalnow.net or by going to the Barker & Associates office at 31 Constitution Way or the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce office at 2591 Highway 17.

Tutors needed
The Adult Community and Education program at Royce Learning Center in Savannah is seeking volunteer tutors to assist adult learners with GED prep and literacy needs. 
Classes are 5-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Royce Learning Center and at Wesley Community Center. Tutor training is offered for free.

Meeting change
The Bryan County Board of Commissioners’ regular meeting set for Feb. 12 has been rescheduled. The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the County Administrative Complex in Richmond Hill.

Volunteers needed
Hospice Savannah is seeking homecare volunteers in Bryan, Liberty and Effingham counties and will host two training sessions Feb. 2 and Feb. 9.
