Prom Dress Drive

The sixth annual Prom Dress Drive is set for 10 a.m. to noon Jan 25 at the Richmond Hill Public Library.
Donate formal dresses, as well as shoes and costume jewelry, to lend a helping hand high school girls in Bryan County who want to attend their formal dance or prom.

 Toy Chest Cannons
“Toy Chest Cannons and More” will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Jan. 31 at Fort McAllister State Historic Park in Richmond Hill.
This month-long museum exhibit features an assortment of miniature Civil War cannons than visitors can view to gain a whole new perspective on some of the most powerful and deadly weapons of the American Civil War. A special interpretive talk on the cannons will be given at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Cost is $7.50 for adults, $4.50 for children, $6.50 for seniors and free for ages 5 and younger.

Church fundraiser
The Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church Youth Group will host its annual Boston butt and barbecue plate fundraiser Feb. 1 at the church across from Publix on Highway 144.
Boston butts are $25; pull pork is $7.50 a pound; and plates are $7. Proceeds will help fund the summer youth group mission trip.
Pickup will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 459-PRAY to preorder.

Rotary fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill will hold its annual fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Richmond Hill City Center.
This year’s event will have a beach theme complete with seaside playground and boardwalk and a performance by The Swingin’ Medallions.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a silent auction full of items and services from local businesses will be held. A cash bar will also be available.

Seeking volunteer

Savannah Promise Walk for Pre-eclampsia, set for May 3 in J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill, is looking for volunteers to help on walk day.
The fundraiser is also seeking donations for the silent auction that will be held on the day of the walk.

Bryan County Head Start/Pre-K in Pembroke is taking applications for the 2014-15 school year.  
Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 1 for the 3-year-old classroom. Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1 for the Pre-K classroom.

Seeking veterans
Honor Flight Savannah is offering World War II and Korean War-era veterans living in southeast Georgia and South Carolina an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to visit their war memorials.

Honor Flight Savannah is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free trips to Washington, D.C., for area veterans.
Funding for trips is dependent on contributions from community citizens and businesses.
