Free tax preparation will be available beginning Tuesday, courtesy of the Chatham Savannah Asset Development Coalition’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Earned Income Tax Credit Program.
The program is available to taxpayers earning less than $52,000 in 2010.
In Bryan County, tax preparation sites include Pembroke Public Library at 1018 Camellia Drive in Pembroke, and Richmond Hill Public Library at 9607 Ford Ave. in Richmond Hill.

The Richmond Hill High School Guidance Department will host a financial aid night at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 in the school cafeteria.
Carol Lott from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will be present to give updated financial aid information and answer questions.

Fort Morris State Historic Site will host “Sunbury and the War Between the States” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 29.
The 8th Georgia Infantry as well as the 25th Georgia Altamaha Scouts will be present to demonstrate and interpret the life of a Civil War soldier at Sunbury. There will also be various demonstrations, including musket and cannon firing, drills and soldier talks.

Boston butts, pulled pork and sandwich plates will be available, but there will only be a limited number of walk-in orders on hand.

The cost is $6 per plate and the funds will be used for the church’s building fund. All are welcome.
