Bryan County Head Start/Pre-K in Pembroke is taking applications for the 2014-15 school year.  
Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 1 for the 3-year-old classroom. Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1 for the Pre-K classroom.

Rotary fundraiser
The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill will hold its annual fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Richmond Hill City Center.
This year’s event will have a beach theme complete with seaside playground and boardwalk and a performance by The Swingin’ Medallions.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a silent auction full of items and services from local businesses will be held. A cash bar will also be available.

Bamboo Farm talk
Norman Winter, director of the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens and the Historic Bamboo Farm, will speak at the Richmond Hill Museum at 7 p.m. Thursday.  
Winter is a syndicated columnist, author and host of an award-winning gardening TV show. He will share the history of what’s known locally as the “Bamboo Farm,” which dates back to the 1880s.  
The event is free for members of the Richmond Hill Historical Society and is open to the public. Donations are appreciated from non-members. For more information, go to www.richmondhillhistoricalsociety.com.

Friends meeting
The Friends of the Richmond Hill Library will meet at 10 a.m. Feb. 10 in the large conference room of the library.
A topic of discussion will be the forthcoming spring book and yard sale set for April 5. Donations of all types of used books are needed for the sale. Items should be brought to the library during hours of operation.
All interested persons are invited to attend the meeting.
