Lights show
Homes of Integrity will host the second annual dancing-lights show from 6-10 p.m. through Jan. 2 at its model home in Richmond Hill.
The light show is free. Park in front of the model home at 65 Eddenfield Lane in Richmond Hill and tune the radio to 107.1 FM to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas.


Club fundraiser
The Pembroke Garden Club is having a winter raffle. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and are available from club members.
The grand prize is a garden dump cart with accessories. The second prize is a 30-inch fire pit with a poker, and the third prize is a garden tub full of accessories.
The drawing is Jan. 19 at Dixie Harn Community Center, 91 Lanier St., but the winner does not need to be present to win.

First Saturday
Fort King George State Historic Site in Darien will host its First Saturday Fun at the Fort event Jan. 7. There will be a scavenger hunt, hands-on colonial games for people of all ages, musket and cannon firing, as well as the opportunity to explore the fort.

Forestry pageant
The Tattnall County Forestry Pageant is set for Feb. 18 at the restored Glennville City Auditorium. 
Children and young adults 24 and younger who live in the Middle East District, which includes Bryan County, are eligible to participate. 
The winners of the local pageant will have their entry fees paid to the 73rd Miss Georgia Forestry Pageant in Tifton in June. 
The deadline for entering the pageant is Jan. 15, and spaces are limited.

Gold Star Wives
Gold Star Wives of the Coastal Empire will meet at 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at the Georgia National Guard Armory at 1248 Eisenhower Drive in Savannah.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for the Gold Star wives of any era to meet each other, network and discuss benefits. The moderator of the meeting will be Patricia Barbee, a Gold Star wife from the Vietnam era.

New Beginnings Community Church will hold a fall-harvest celebration from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at 75 Crosswinds Drive, at the entrance to Buckhead North.
Activities planned include hay rides, hot-dog roasting, face painting, games and prizes. All activities are free and open to the public.

Book signing set for Pembroke Public Library
J.G. Jakes, author of “The River’s Edge,” will have a book signing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Pembroke Public Library.
When asked to sum up in one sentence what kind of story “The River’s Edge” is, Jakes said, “It’s an altogether human story: love and hatred, regret and forgiveness, faith and consequences and a cross.”
“The River’s Edge” is about an evil man, a horrible murder, a miscarriage of backwoods justice and a young woman’s vow of revenge.
Jakes was born and raised in Shellman. She now is a retired school teacher.  
“It is my genuine desire to share the grace of God and encourage others as they continue on their Christian journey,” Jakes said.

Fall art show, reception planned for Nov. 8
Arts on the Coast will have its fall art show and reception at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, on the grounds surrounding Leahy Art Gallery in Richmond Hill.
