Santa run: The Bryan County Fire Department South Division will be escorting Santa through neighborhoods in Richmond Hill and South Bryan from about 6-8:30 p.m. in the coming days. Signs will be posted on subdivision entrances the day Santa is due to visit. Schedules will be posted on the South Bryan Volunteer Facebook page.
Any toys donated during Santa’s visits will be delivered to the Pink Heals organization for distribution at the Backus Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.

Christmas services
New Beginnings Community Church will have a special service, “A Plain Ole Peace,” part of its series “A plain ole Christmas,” on Dec. 23. The church will also hold a special Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24. The church is located at the entrance to Buckhead North subdivision off Highway 144 in Richmond Hill. First Baptist Church of Pembroke will hold its Christmas Eve communion service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24. The church is located at 169 Church St. in Pembroke.

Christmas caroling
New Beginnings Community Church will have its annual Christmas caroling in the community beginning at 6:45 p.m. today. Bring the whole family for a night of song, hot drinks and refreshments. The church is located at the entrance to Buckhead North subdivision off Highway 144 in Richmond Hill.

Choir musical
Corinth Baptist Church in Richmond Hill will hold a children’s choir musical at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church at 19536 Highway 144.

Library closed
The Richmond Hill Public Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday for the Christmas holiday. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Dec. 26. The library will also close at 6 p.m. Dec. 31 and reopen Jan. 2.

New Beginnings Community Church will hold a fall-harvest celebration from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at 75 Crosswinds Drive, at the entrance to Buckhead North.
Activities planned include hay rides, hot-dog roasting, face painting, games and prizes. All activities are free and open to the public.

Book signing set for Pembroke Public Library
J.G. Jakes, author of “The River’s Edge,” will have a book signing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Pembroke Public Library.
When asked to sum up in one sentence what kind of story “The River’s Edge” is, Jakes said, “It’s an altogether human story: love and hatred, regret and forgiveness, faith and consequences and a cross.”
“The River’s Edge” is about an evil man, a horrible murder, a miscarriage of backwoods justice and a young woman’s vow of revenge.
Jakes was born and raised in Shellman. She now is a retired school teacher.  
“It is my genuine desire to share the grace of God and encourage others as they continue on their Christian journey,” Jakes said.

Fall art show, reception planned for Nov. 8
Arts on the Coast will have its fall art show and reception at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, on the grounds surrounding Leahy Art Gallery in Richmond Hill.
