The Pembroke City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

Council meeting
The Bryan County Board of Commissioners will hold its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the County Administrative Complex in South Bryan.

Library meeting
The Bryan County Library Board will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Pembroke Public Library. The meeting is open to the public.

Library survey
The Richmond Hill and Pembroke public libraries hope to offer computer classes to the public beginning this fall.
Library officials would like to have input from those who are interested in attending the classes. The classes will be using laptop computers purchased with funds provided by a grant from the Praxair Foundation.

Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts of Richmond Hill will have registration from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 13 at Jump N’ Jacks Family Fun Center, 109 Interchange Dr. in Richmond Hill.
Everyone who registers will receive a free all-day jump pass that can be used only on Aug. 13.
The Girl Scouts of Richmond Hill will also have registration from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Richmond Hill Public Library on Ford Avenue.

Homecoming
Pastor Gary Quinney and the members of Corinth Baptist Church invite friends and former members to celebrate homecoming at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 14 at 19536 Hwy. 144, 10 miles east of Hwy. 17. 
The Rev. Travis Cowart will be the guest preacher for the morning worship service, after which there will be a covered-dish lunch in the social hall.
Seating will also be available in the pavilion. After lunch will be a concert by The New Hymnsmen in the sanctuary.

Blood drive
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1-7 p.m. Aug. 18 in the social hall of Pembroke United Methodist Church at 102 N. College St., Pembroke.

Health screenings
Free health screenings for school children are being offered to military families from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 20 at Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart.

Lemonade social
The Richmond Hill Senior Center will celebrate National Senior Citizen Day by serving fresh lemonade at noon Aug. 19.
On Aug. 20, 1630, lemonade first was served in Paris, France, and Aug. 21 is National Senior Citizens Day.

Safe driving
Magnolia Manor on the Coast will host an AARP safe-driving course from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 24 at 141 Timber Trail in Richmond Hill. There will be 25 spots available. All materials are provided, and light refreshments will be served.
Course certificates will be valid for three years and will be given at the end of class. Some insurance companies offer a 10 percent safe-driver discount.
The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Make checks payable to AARP. Bring checks and membership cards with you on the day of class.

Kids fishing

The Bryan County Bass Masters Fishing Club will hold its annual Kids Fishing Tournament from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 27 at J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill.
Bait will be furnished. Participants just need to bring a pole and tackle. Kids will have the chance to win $100 if they catch a fish bearing a sponsor’s tag. Prize drawing will be held and trophies will be awarded. Hamburgers, hot dogs and soda will also be served.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Bible study
St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church invites you to join its Wednesday morning Bible study group this fall as it begins a popular course, Beth Moore’s “The Patriarchs: Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”
The 12-week class is from 9:45 a.m.-noon Sept. 7-Nov. 30 in the Christian Education Building. There is no class Nov. 24. The workbook costs $20. All are welcome.
