Newman reunion

The 27th annual Newman family reunion for the descendants of James Benjamin Newman and Frances Hodges Newman will be held on Sept. 16 at the Pembroke Senior Citizens Center on Hwy. 280. A basket lunch will be at 1 p.m.

 

Duggar reunion

The annual Duggar Family Reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 beginning at 3 p.m., at the American Legion, John Duggar Post #164, Pembroke, Georgia. Family Connection

Bryan County Family Connection is holding a ministerial resource sharing event on Friday, Sept. 14 beginning at 11 a.m. The purpose of this event is to allow Family Connection and partner community agencies to provide information regarding resources and services available within Bryan County that may be of assistance to church leaders and those working to expand on local missions.

 

Boston Butt sale

The Pembroke Assembly of God will sponsor a Boston Butt sale on Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15, at the corner of Hwy. 80 and Hwy. 280 in Blitchton. The cost for each roast is $20 and will be ready for pick-up each day after 4 p.m. Limited delivery is available. To order or for more information, call Neal Bennetta at 748-6058. All proceeds will benefit the church’s Royal Rangers program.

 

Mill Creek

Mill Creek Baptist Church will be celebrating their pastor, Rev. Earl and Sis. Wanda Herman’s Third Pastor Anniversary, Sept. 19-21, at 7:30 p.m.

 

Arts on the Coast

Arts on the Coast will hold its next general meeting and family picnic at Ft. McAllister State Park Community Building on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. Everyone interested in the arts is invited to attend. Mayor Richard Davis will present an overview of his vision for the Richmond Hill community and play a selection of his favorite songs. AOC will provide meat, beverages and desserts for the picnic. Animal caregivers

The Bryan Animal Caregivers needs any and all interested volunteers. The group meets at the Richmond Hill Public Library the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. Find out how to help pets in the area, call 727-2694 and press "1" for more information.

 

Kids Day

The public is invited to the first annual Kids Day at New Beginnings Community Church on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be a moonwalk, games, prizes, free drinks, popcorn and cotton candy provided by Coastal Celebrations. The church also is having a huge yard sale with proceeds going to the parking lot fund. Donations for the yard sale are being accepted now. The church is located at Hwy. 144 at the entrance to Buckhead North in Richmond Hill. For more information, call 308-7635.

 

Food distribution

The Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority will be distributing USDA surplus commodity foods to eligible area residents Sept. 26-28.

Any household whose total gross income is less than the State established poverty guidelines for the appropriate household size is eligible.

Persons picking up food are requested to bring a bag or box container. Anyone picking up food for someone else must present a completed and signed authorization form for each household; hand written notes will not be accepted. The forms must be current. Food may be picked up for a maximum of two (2) households, including the household of the person making the pickup. New authorization forms (dated 5/03) may be picked up from the Community Services Center at 208 North College Street in Pembroke. The forms will not be available at the distribution sites and old authorization forms will not be accepted.

In accordance with federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, Coastal GA Area CAA, Inc. is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national, origin, age, sex, handicap or disability.

Food will be distributed from the following sites:

Wednesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Pembroke City Hall.

Golf tourney

The Automotive Technology Department of Savannah Technical College will be hosting the Automotive Technology Golf Tournament at Black Creek Country Club on Friday, Sept. 14 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Teams and individual players may register up until Sept. 13.

The Automotive Technology Golf Tournament is an annual event. The golf tournament is open to the public and costs $260 for a 4 person team. The proceeds of the event benefit Automotive Technology students through scholarships, current automotive trends and cutting edge technology.

 

Kingston

A representative of Congressman Jack Kingston’s office will be in Richmond Hill and Hinesville Thursday, Sept. 20, to meet with anyone who needs assistance with a federal agency during a Congressional "Day Office."
