ADHD support group
The ADHD and Behavior Support Group will meet today from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Mindspring Center to discuss social skills and emotional IQ and practical ways to increase both. The meeting will be facilitated by Stephanie Warren. For more information call Jennifer Ranicki at (912) 748-6463.

Rec dance
The RIchmond Hill Recreation Association will have a dance for middle school students on Jan. 27 from 7-10 p.m. at the gym on Timber Trail Road. The cost is $5 per child. Concessions will be available. All middle school students are welcome.

SAT review
Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Department of Professional and Continuing Education is offering a course, “SAT Review.” The course provides the confidence needed to become test-savvy by familiarizing you with the test’s format and types of questions that can be expected.
The course will be offered Jan. 22 through Feb. 7, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at AASU. The fee is $110 which includes book and CD.

Mammograms
St. Joseph’s/Candler will be performing mammograms to screen for breast cancer in its mobile screening unit on Feb. 7 and Feb. 21 at St. Joseph’s/Candler Medical Group – Pembroke, 159 West Railroad St. SJ/C accepts most insurance plans including Blue Cross HMO. Financial assistance is available to women who qualify. Appointments are necessary and may be made by calling 819-6800.

Pembroke
The February meeting of the Pembroke city council will not be held on the second Monday as normally scheduled. The meeting instead will be held on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center at City Hall, 100 North Main St. The public is encouraged to attend. Persons with disabilities need to call 653-4413 if assistance is required.

Historical Society
The Richmond Hill Historical Society is pleased to announce that well-known journalist  Michael Jordan ,will be speaking at its Thursday, Feb. 1 meeting. The meeting will be held at the Wetlands Center in Gregory Park, in Richmond Hill, and will begin at 7:00 PM. This meeting is open to the general public and all are welcomed.
Jordan’s career includes hard hitting consumer investigations, live spot news coverage, and frequent deployments overseas with local military units in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Cuba. In 2004 Mr Jordan received the Edward R. Murrow Best Documentary Award for  “Freedom Fighters: In Harm’s Way”. Currently, Jordan is working with the Coastal Heritage Society in Savannah. Come and share what promises to be an extremely interesting and informative program.
 
Leadership skills
Coastal Electric Cooperative, Your Touchstone Energy Partner®, is looking for outgoing high school juniors who want to build their leadership skills.  
The cooperative is recruiting applicants for the 2007 Washington Youth Tour, June 7 to June 14. Along with earning a leadership experience in Washington D.C., teens earn a $1,000 scholarship to use for college, technical or trade school.
It’s a chance to meet more than 80 teens from Georgia and to represent our state in Washington D.C - all expenses paid. Once in D.C., you’ll meet hundreds of teens from across the country for one incredible week in our nation’s capital. The Washington Youth Tour is a fast-paced once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see how America works and may be discover your future.
It’s a top-notch tour of our nation’s capital that includes meetings with state and national leaders and leadership training, as well as visiting all the major sights. Students also meet and discuss their views with students from other states while learning about history, government and careers in public service.
Coastal Electric Cooperative is one of 38 Georgia electric cooperatives who offer this opportunity for students. High school juniors who live in Liberty, Bryan and McIntosh County and who will be at least 16 years of age by the time of the tour are eligible to apply. Applicants do not have to be served by Coastal Electric Cooperative.

The One Hundred presents “A Call to Justice,” a lecture with CNN personality Nancy Grace on Saturday, Feb.24, at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.  The lecture begins at 10:30 a.m. Following the presentation, Grace will be signing copies of her book, “Objection!”
Nancy Grace is one of TV’s most experienced and passionate legal analysts and host of her own hour-long talk show on CNN Headline News. She is known for challenging guests on the most controversial and high-profile legal issues of the day by drawing on her unique perspective as a former violent crimes prosecutor and as a crime victim herself.
Proceeds will benefit the George and Marie Backus Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Ticket prices for the event are $50 for the presentation or $150 for the presentation and a special VIP reception with Nancy Grace prior to the event. Brunch will be served at the presentation. PCFO Applications

The Combined Federal Campaign for Coastal Georgia, Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC) is soliciting applications from federated groups, charitable organizations or a combination thereof, interested in being considered to serve as Principal Combined Fund Organization (PCFO) for two campaign years 2007 and 2008. Applications must be forwarded to:  Dan Drake, Chairman, LFCC, U.S. Attorney’s Office, P.O. Box 8970, Savannah, GA 31412.  Application proposals must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2007.  Applications may also be hand-delivered.
