The Pembroke Christian Church Men’s Club hosted a military-themed breakfast meeting April 9. U.S. Army Chaplain Chris Rice from Fort Stewart and Pembroke United Methodist Minister Larry Sauls, a veteran, were the keynote speakers. Other veterans included two other local ministers: the Rev. Jim Sullivan and the Rev. Jim Correll.
Rice had a short film about the Iraqi turnover of military forces and how the forces mobilized for this event. Rice was a youth minister for 13 years before going into active duty as a full-time military chaplain. He emphasized the importance youth have in the future of the country.
Sauls spoke about his military experience as a Navy demolition expert and as a Navy Seal. Both speakers encouraged everyone to get involved in their Christian walk and the community.
The Men’s Club meets at 8:30 a.m. on the second Saturday each month, and a variety of speakers and programs are planned. The public is invited to attend.
