The Richmond Hill Historical Society will present the author of the new “Civil War Savannah” series at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Richmond Hill Museum.
Barry Sheehy will describe the accurate and, until now, untold story of Savannah during the Civil War era. It took more than seven years to create the four-part series, and the book was featured at the Savannah Book Festival.
The authors have created one of the most comprehensive collections of books on antebellum Savannah. They were driven by the desire to create and preserve a useful record of historic truth rather than a desire to publish an expose.
The “Civil War Savannah” series provides photos, maps and documentation for Civil War buffs, historians, educators, tourists and locals. Readers say they treasure these books for their readability and for research.
A book signing and reception will follow the lecture. The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, call 756-3697.
